“It is not enough for the teacher to love the child. She must first love and understand the universe. She must prepare herself, and truly work at it.”

The last 14 years of my life have been dedicated to early childhood education and working with young children and their parents is my passion.
So what does a day with a toddler (or many toddlers) look like? Well, it’s messy and loud and hectic- it’s full of big feelings and non-stop movement and it is so incredibly rewarding and fascinating. Setting the stage for young children to be able to grow into their own sense of self, seeing their personalities bloom within the security of their own little community, empowering their independence and self-confidence, honoring their intrinsic drive to grow and learn and concentrate, helping them navigate their big emotions and to develop positive social-emotional tools- it’s a more complex occupation than many realize- and it is a privilege to fill this role.
I came to Montessori teaching as a career through a natural progression. Twenty-six years ago, when I became a mother, I was very interested in creating a home environment that would foster independence and creative learning in my children. This desire was more fully realized when I discovered Montessori school- how exciting it was to find an educational philosophy that so closely aligned with my personal beliefs! I am a parent of four strong, brilliant and curious daughters who are all young adults now. With my children each at various points of young adulthood I am at a point in my parenting journey that I can begin to really see the "big picture" from the perspective of my children's formative experiences and I am so grateful that Montessori education was available to them and I am thrilled to continue to play a role in bringing Montessori experiences to more families! I am so excited to bring all of my skills and prior experience to founding The Toddler House.
